V POSTPONED!
The match sceduled for tonight (19:45 GMT) has been called off due to heavy snow at the Emirates.
Taken from Arsenal.com : Despite making every effort to stage tonight's match against Bolton Wanderers, the sudden and unpredicted adverse change in weather conditions in the Highbury area has left us no choice but to postpone the fixture.
We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and wish to state that this decision was not made lightly and supporters' safety and travel arrangements were major factors in our thinking. The Club will announce the revised date for this match in due course and all tickets currently held will be valid for the rearranged fixture.
Pictures of the stadium in the snowy conditions can be seen here
I was meant to go to this match, so I'm annoyed... but I do understand why they did it - I mean I don't want that 35+ mill profit we made last year to be spent paying out compensation claims!

Low talks Podolski and Kroos
Germany coach Joachim Low is set to make an exception to his policy of only choosing players who are in form and playing regularly for their club, by naming Lukas Podolski in his 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ squad.
With five months to go before the 49-year-old must make his selections, he recently declared that he would not be repeating the mistake of calling up players merely on past reputation, and added that he expects to find 23 hungry and motivated players during the second half of the 2009/10 season. However, Podolski, who has so far failed to live up to his own glittering reputation since rejoining Cologne last summer, appears to have been given special dispensation even if he does not start finding the back of the net with regularity.
The former Bayern Munich forward has scored 37 times in 69 games for Germany, but he has managed to find the back of the net only once since joining his hometown club in July. Nevertheless, Low has declined the notion of Podolski losing his place in the Germany set-up should he fail to up the ante in 2010.
"There are no doubts at all about his status as a national team player. In the national team, he nearly always plays well." Germany coach Joachim Low on Lukas Podolski
"There are no doubts at all about his status as a national team player," he told Cologne's Expressnewspaper. "His goalscoring record with us is noteworthy.
"He is cheeky and is not afraid. In the national team, he nearly always plays well. Even against top nations, he never shows any nerves and he performs excellently."
Kroos inclusion in balance
On the other hand, Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Toni Kroos has been told he still has a lot of work to do to convince Low of his suitability for a place on the plane to South Africa. The 20-year-old, who is on loan at the Bundesliga leaders from Bayern Munich until the end of the season, has been one of the key components in Leverkusen's unbeaten first half of the season, but Low may take a little more convincing. "He has developed a lot, but we will have to see whether that is enough for South Africa," said the Germany coach. "I will wait to see what the second half of the season brings. We have taken note of his good performances in the first half of the season and with the Under-21s."

| Pumpkin Cheesecake Bread Pudding |
[05 January 2010 | 06:43pm] |
Why, yes, I did say Pumpkin Cheesecake Bread Pudding. Rethinking some resolutions?
If it's cold where you live, you neeeeed to make this delicious, simple bread pudding. It's a humble, gorgeous, comforting, easy dessert you'll love. My boyfriend is already asking when I'm going to make it again -- good sign!
This pudding isn't the only thing that's amazing; the cookbook it comes from is phenomenal as well. Heirloom Baking with the Brass Sisters is a collection of heirloom recipes from the Brass family, as well as from yard sales, used bookstores, antique cookbooks, and various family collections.

Normally I post the full recipe in my post here, but in order to only reprint the Brass Sisters' recipe once (with permission), I've only recorded it on my personal baking blog, linked below. You can also read a full review of their cookbook there.

To get the full recipe, see the full cookbook review, or to test your New Year's resolve with more delicious photos, please head over to my baking blog, Willow Bird Baking!

| Soft grainy bread |
[05 January 2010 | 04:41pm] |
Stop what you are doing right now and listen up: I HAVE PERFECTED MY SEEDY BREAD RECIPE. I know you all thought it was perfect before, but you didn't know that it could be made perfecter. Now you know!
The secret is buttermilk! This is officially my new favourite bread. It is just as soft as bought bread and sooo much tastier. And cheaper! And better for you! Buttermilk, contrary to what I thought until yesterday, is not fatty milk. It's milk with good bacteria in it! It tastes kind of like plain yoghurt. Who'd-a-thunk-it. Anyways, it makes a pretty delish loaf of bread. Apparently you can also use it in salad dressings.

Okay, it's just Landon and Clint, but whatever.
First off, if you didn't see Clint Dempsey's goal today against Stoke: ( it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. ) Secondly, Landon Donovan has officially signed with Everton on loan for 2 and a half months!

He was supposed to have a press conference today talking about his move and formally introducing him, but it was called off because of the weather. He did talk to EvertonTV after the FA Cup win against Carlisle, which he arrived in time to catch the second half of.
( some of the interview under the cut )
source
ALSO (I almost forgot about this, hahaha, it's the best part!) Landon, before going over to England, filmed a commercial for Mexican lottery:
This is absolutely the most beautiful, hilarious commercial ever.

Vidic denies Fergie bust-up
Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has moved quickly to quash rumours of a feud with Sir Alex Ferguson.
Tension is reportedly high between the Red Devils centre-half and the manager, with rumours circulating that the Serbian stopper is trying to engineer a move to Real Madrid.
Vidic is thought to be requesting an unrealistic £100,000 a week contract in the hope that if rejected, Los Merengues come in with a January offer.
However, the 28-year-old, who moved to Old Trafford for £7million from Spartak Moscow in 2006, has flatly denied any bust-up with Ferguson.
Vidic pulled out of the pre-match warm-up against Leeds on Sunday and missed out on the 1-0 defeat at the hands of United's League One arch-rivals.
When asked whether he knew what was wrong with the defender, Ferguson remarked: "I couldn't tell you. I couldn't tell you at all."
But Vidic has played down the reported feud and says he has a 'marvellous' understanding with his manager.
"Everything surprised me a lot," he told Sportski zurnal. "Ferguson said that he didn't talk with the club doctor, but he didn't say that he doesn't believe in my injuries and that we are in a fight.
"Everybody in the club knows that I have a marvellous understanding with my coach Ferguson.
"Moreover, I'm not unhappy at Old Trafford. I'm just injured and that is the end of the story.
"I hope that I will be able to play as soon as possible. The doctors told me that I will not be able to play for the next seven or ten days so I don't think that I will play against Birmingham City."
One of Vidic's representatives, Paolo Fabbri, told ESPN Soccernet: "I am quite surprised by all these rumours, the situation is under control and is not unusual.
"As far as I know, the player is not negotiating with any other club.
"Regarding the mood of the player, I think it is standard. I have not spoken to him since the last defeat but, as far as I know, there is no problem."

| Torres reveals fitness fight |
[05 January 2010 | 07:31pm] |
Fernando Torres today revealed he is putting in extra hours at Melwood to stay fit and help Liverpool finish in the top four.
The No.9's season has been punctuated by a groin problem but, thanks to a gruelling fitness regime, he has now played four consecutive 90 minutes.
Torres told Liverpoolfc.tv he may have to put in extra hours until the end of the campaign - but the Spaniard is now playing without pain and doesn't anticipate missing any more games.
( Better than Villa... )
Get in! We really need him to be fit and scoring goals. Am I right in thinking there's no international friendlies left this season for him to get injured in?

| Rumor / Soon to be True? |
[05 January 2010 | 08:16am] |
Sentata USA has removed all prem matches from its website line-up as well as all advertising of those matches. (Their Soccer Page) The Raging rumor is that they are in talks to be acquired by Fox Soccer Channel in a deal that could be announced this week.
No word on if the weekend matches scheduled for Sentanta will actually take place, including Arsenal v. Everton.
EPL talk broke the story last night, and Jamie Trecker of Fox Soccer replied, "no comment" when I asked him if it was true...
And no word on what any of these means to the future of the Prem matches and all other Sentanta programing shown in the US

| tiny cakes, orange and poppy seed cakes, and cinnamon stick.. things |
[05 January 2010 | 05:00pm] |

Over the past few weeks I've been trying to keep busy, so I've made a few things. The hardest thing I've made, and the only one I don't have a typed recipe for, is the tiny tiered chocolate cakes I made. They tasted great, but because they were so small they were really difficult to ice. I didn't think it was possible for something less than 15cm tall to fall over, but apparently it is.

| Trailer Park Troubadours cake! |
[04 January 2010 | 12:29pm] |
|
I have completed what was, in more ways than one, my biggest cake project ever. It was served to 200 people at a Trailer Park Troubadours concert on New Year’s Day. I’m thrilled to say it was a huge hit! I even got a shout-out from the stage when the band's frontman, Antsy McClain, was talking about their 'crazy friends'. "A crazy friend of ours made this amazing cake for us," and he pointed me out. Best part? That announcement came right before they played my favorite TPT song.
So, I guess you’d like to see pics now, huh? Maybe? (Please?)
The cake was based on this photo, which the band uses in their show. (They call it a Bed & Breakfast. :-) )
( The ride continues )
And now I really should lie down for a while, since I already have a couple of ideas for NEXT year's show ...

| White Chocolate Gingerbread Bars |
[04 January 2010 | 12:19pm] |

Thank you to everyone who posted such nice comments about the wedding. It was just an absolute dream; every single minute of it. My mother did a fabulous job making everything look beautiful and our parents did all that they could to make it a great day for us. All of our friends and family were so generous and we're very excited to go on our honeymoon to Rome in a week! I'll post pictures as soon as I get them back from the photographer, which should be by the end of the week.
I made these bars before Christmas, but I didn't get a chance to post them. They were delicious and they were almost gone by the end of the night when there were just 4 of us eating them. There are a bunch of different, warm spices in the batter and the white chocolate is light and creamy and compliments in the gingerbread flavor perfectly. The texture is great, too; moist and chewy. I halved the recipe in and used an 8x8 pan, but I probably should have made a 9x13 pan because they were so good! Recipe on my blog at The Crepes of Wrath or after the cut.

[01] Joachim Low will play it safe for 2010"I won't call up anybody who has not been playing regularly for their side in the months building up to the [World Cup]," Low said. "That is something I have learned from Euro 2008. This is going to be a World Cup which will be played at a very high pace." It seems Mr. Low only called up Metzelder due to his past reputation within the team instead of his playing time (or lack there of) at Real Madrid. Metzelder has said that he does not expect Real Madrid to renew his contract or appear in the German National Team for 2010. "One has to be realistic; I do not think Madrid will renew my contract," confessed the German. "I have lived two and a half years here and I do not think that it is appropriate for me to speak, not now and not in the months that come, of my situation with the club". "I have spoken very little with Joachim Low recently and I don't think I play a very big role in his plans'' revealed Metzelder. As for Kevin, Low had this to say: "Kevin took the decision to leave the team prematurely back then against Russia and he knew of the consequences. We have a clear line that I will not be budging from. Nevertheless, I am happy that things are going so well for him at Schalke right now." For those of you that don't remember what happened here, we have achieved special footage of what happened that night, thanks to one Oliver Pocher. this basically means any hope of these two appearing in the World Cup.. is OFFICIALLY gone. Maybe we'll see you guys on the stands? [02] Mesut Ozil (also) on top of the Bundesliga Ozil (Werder Bremen) has been voted by his fellow league teammates as the best player of the first half in the Bundesliga season. Ozil obtained 38.1% of a vote held by Kicker magazine in which 228 Bundesliga players were asked their opinion on who had made the biggest impact over the first four months of the campaign. Stefan Kiessling (Bayer Leverkusen) came in second with 22.9% of the vote while Ze Roberto (Hamburg) with 9.6% of the vote.
Rene Adler (Bayer Leverkusen) was voted the league's best goalkeeper with 34.7% of the votes and Thomas Tuchel (Mainz) was named the best coach with 36.5% of votes.
Joachim Low has stated that Ozil has already become an important part of Germany's 2010 World Cup campaign. "He is already important for us and he is going to get even more important," said Low. "To have such a player at his age is a stroke of luck."
Congrats to all the winners!
mods, is there any way to have an Mesut O.Ozil tag or something of that sort? [03] Poldi can't find passport, makes pilot wait for 40 minutes When boarding at Terminal D20 for the "Sunexpress" flight to Antalya XQ727 Poldi was not allowed on board. The Reason: Lukas didn't have his passport!
"My son must have played with them, the passport was not in the wallet." (Your son must have played with them? Poldi - you have to come up with a better excuse than that. )
Fortunately, the travel document was brought to the Cologne airport. Just in time. Well if you consider 40 minutes late as just in time.
..because Michael Ballack needs to keep updated on his German teammates somehow.

Chelsea player Ashley Cole guilty of speeding at 104mph
Chelsea footballer Ashley Cole has been found guilty of driving at 104mph in a 50mph zone in south-west London.
The player, from Godalming, Surrey, was caught speeding in his Lamborghini on the A3 in Kingston just after midday on 17 November 2008.
Cole, who was not present in court, had claimed he was being chased by paparazzi and denied the charge.
Kingston Magistrates' chairwoman Judith Jewell warned he may be banned from driving when sentenced on 29 January.
The court heard that, when stopped, Cole told police he was aware it was a 50mph zone and thought he was driving at 80mph but complained about a photographer following him. ( more under the cut )
what a complete idiot also it seems like this took an awful long time to go to court :/
